Hey everyone ...

Someone posted this about the new iBook (sorry, I lost track of who):

>I want one. It is almost the size of my Duo 280c and maybe twice
the >speed of my Kanga with the same size screen.

The new iBook sure is cute ...

Here's the thing ... When you look at the specs, the TiBook G4 is
really only 2" bigger and .2 lbs hefiter than the iBook ... And the
TiBook is thinner, too ... So it seems like when it comes to real-
world portability concerns go, there's not much difference ... So
price aside (and that's a huge consideration, obviously), is the
iBook really worth it over the TiBook if you're talking about a machine
you can do *everything* with --everything being Web browsing, office
apps, DV video editing, Web/Multimedia creation

I say price aside b/c I'd really like to have a laptop to use instead
of my desktop g4 (and my duo 230, which still rocks for word processing)
.. I don't *need* two computers, so if I sell my g4, I can either
get an iBook for not very much above that or spend another $1,300-
1,600 for a TiBook

The iBook only supports video mirroring from what I gather, which
is kind of annoying ... You can still hook up an external 17" display,
but the nice thing about doing that with a pbG3 or TiBook is you
wind up with dual monitors, which is great for video editing or multimedia
creation work

The iBook is a G3/500, which is really fast, but it's not a G4, which
is really faster ...

I guess my question is can you really look at the iBook as a desktop
replacement machine? Is it silly to think of getting an iBook to
co-exist with a desktop g4? Seems like overkill, but if the pricing
basically works out to be the same ... Which would you rather have:
a TiBook or a 2 year old g4 desktop and an iBook?
