If you know how to use ResEdit, make a copy of a clean 8.1 Finder, and
open it with ResEdit. Open the SIZE resource and scroll down to the
bottom. Then change the number in the "Size" box to 1572864. Quit
ResEdit, saving the change. Then swap this altered Finder into your
System folder and restart. No more Finder crashes due to tight memory.
