Not normal (has happened to me once or twice with no ill effects) on a
properly assembled computer. In your case it may be related to keyboard not
sitting correctly (see below and check entire keyboard seating).

Pull back trackpad cover assembly. There are molded reverse "T" tabs that
need to be sufficiently depressed on during the closure process to slide
under the receiving slots in the keyboard. The tab is certainly sitting on
TOP of the slot on lower right part of the keyboard (when it should have
been slid under).
