Correct, but a PC card doesn't feel like one big "dongle" that I have to
carry to my next destination. Satellite is likely to be very costly.

I have both Compuserve 3.03 and CIM 2.4.4 but never use either--the software
is unbelievably clunky. I bypass it, sometimes with Explorer, Opera, iCab
and Netscape all open at the same time. All my posts to Duolist use the
Compuserve mail address but run over another unlimited time Swiss ISP. I
just switch to local Compuserve nodes when I'm travelling elsewhere in the
world--it's extremely handy for that. I also keep the CSV account minimum
and otherwise go local over the proprietary Compuserve PPP using POP mail.
Over here in Switzerland Compuserve Classic still allows full internet
access via my HP 200lx, a great DOS palmtop--including web surfing. You may
have seen that my aliased email address CSI reverted back to Compuserve
(required by other ISPs). Most of my long time internet subscriptions were
first made years ago on CSV so I can't be bothered to change. Now fluff and
all the spam finds its way in into this mailbox but CSV is still useful.
Meanwhile, I'm envious because broadband here is prohibitively expensive
while ISDN is only marginally faster than a good analog line on 56k.
