Quite a while ago, I benchmarked the G3-240/320/400 and noted disk scores
(Macbench 4.0), no LibMoto.

The G3-240 w/4.3 gb (I think that's what was in there at the time) returned
308, a G3-320 w/20gb ran 785, a G3-400 w/30gb ran 816. Since CPU speeds
should have minimal effect on the disk score, I concluded a while back that
the new 20-30gb  drives at 4200 rpm are MUCH FASTER than their 4-6gb
predecessors. The 5400 rpm drives have higher power consumption but only
marginally better speed (from knowledgeable sources).

You can heat sink the HD by placing compressed, folded aluminum foil between
the HD and the bottom of the case to form a heat transfer block on top of
the raised part of the case. I've done that in all of my 2400s. Heat
transfer is definitely improved.\
