Corina,

Do you have another Mac with both ethernet and the old round serial
ports? If so, you can use this Mac as a bridge computer.

1. Install Apple's "LocalTalk Bridge" software on your bridge computer.

<ftp://ftp.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-Nort
h_American/Macintosh/Networking-Communications/Other_N-C/LocalTalk_Bridge_2
.1.smi.bin>

2. Hook the iBook's and bridge computer's ethernet connectors together
using either a hub (preferred) or a crossover cable.

3. Hook the 2400 serial port to the bridge computer's printer port using
localtalk connectors or a printer cable.

4. Enable sharing or whatever so that you can see the iBook's hard drive
on the 2400.

5. Using the 2400, copy everything over EXCEPT for the system folder. You
may want to copy the system folder to a new folder just in case it has
some important preferences or inits you may need later.

Apple advantage: You do not need to re-install all your applications like
that OTHER platform.

P.S. Shouldn't we have some sort of celebration for the #2400th Digest of
