Hey all, I'm new to this list...just bought a Duo 280 to run some 68k apps and am currently setting it up. By the way, anybody wanted to sell my a color screen upgrade and/or a docking solution with ethernet, please email off-list.... Anyway, my issue is this: when I got the Duo, it had a battery in the slot, but with little tiny pieces of what looks like Scotch tape over each of the contacts on the battery itself. It's a Type 3 battery so I figured I lucked out and got a brand new battery maybe (?) and it just never had the contact covers removed. (The seller on eBay had said the battery was dead, so I figured maybe I got something for free, right...) So anyway, I removed the tape and re-inserted the battery while the Duo was running on AC power. It immediately switched off, like hard-power-off. I tried various combinations of inserting the battery while in sleep, while turned off, etc. -- no dice. If the battery is inserted, the machine will not power on or wake from sleep; and if it's running when I insert the battery it immediately shuts down. Any tips? I tried holding down the reset button on the back for 15 seconds, but that didn't seem to help (I read that this would reset the power manager, which I assume might be my problem). Is this battery just dead or is something worse than that going on? It seems funny that a dead battery would mean instant death for the machine, you know? Thanks in advance!
