I've had the same results when running a Duo in a full size Dock. If you
start it without the battery it works fine. However the moment you insert
the battery, the Duo goes dead.

It suspect it's still because of the Power Manager redirecting juice to the
battery and not enough to the Duo itself. I would say it has nothing to do
with the power supply.
