Hi, I'm totally baffled by the following scenario with my Duo 2300. I noticed that my connect speeds were terribly slow at about 40-150byte/sec on any browser that I used, when previously I was attaining 2-3Kbytes/sec. Why this should be so I had no idea but I wondered if it was something to do with sys 8.6 which I had running. The same speeds though when I run 8.1. The modem is a GV platinum internal 14.4K. As I said it previously was still able to give me considerably more than 100s bytes/sec. Incidentally when I ran an iMac over the same line with the same account I get the normal connect speeds. Then I wondered if it was to do with the modem so I acquired a USRobitics 5K v.90 modem and I'm essentially getting the same problem. Curiously over system 8.6, I can't set the modem to recognise a 'modem' port which of course the Duo doesn't have but the Duo dock (which I'm running it in) does. I can select the 'modem' port in sys 8.1 but the connection doesn't actually occur (ie no dial tone, nothing). Does anyone have any idea on what is going on? I can't seem to find solns. on either APples tech info site or US Robotics. Duo2300 and dock, sys 8.6, USRobitics ext. modem 56K, 48MB RAM, no RAM doubler but VM is turned on.
