There is nothing to set up when using in the Dock. It should function just
as the 280 does.

What you describe sounds like it cant find a boot drive at start up. Do you
get a blinking question mark?

Does the 2300 start up OK outside the Dock when using the battery or AC?

How is the 2300 configured (i.e. OS, RAM, drive size)?

Have you tried resetting the PRAM? This is done by removing the AC and
battery, then holding down the power/restart button on the back for about 45
seconds. Then reinsert battery, AC and try booting.
