Hello fellow list members, My name is Jason. I'm relatively new to Macs since, I have only been seriously using them for about a year. I recently bought my very first powerbook, a Duo 2300c with 40MB of Ram, 750MB HD, built-in 14.4 modem and running MacOS 8.1. Like most used equipment it came in bundle which included a SCSI Disk Mode cable (Wow! Is that cool technology or what?), a 'non-functional' DuoDock +, an external 8X SCSI CD-ROM drive and an external SCSI Hard Drive. Now to my problems and concerns. 1) The previous owner said the battery probably needed replacing since it would die very quickly for him. When I brought it home I immediately ran the battery recondition app I found on the drive. I then tested my duo and it ran for about 1hr:30min with Appletalk and File sharing off. Is this a good battery length? What are the actual real-life battery ranges for these little guys? Should I start pricing out a replacement? 2) The DuoDock intially made a ticking sound when I plugged it in and would not accept the Duo. I popped off the display cover and tried again and this time was able to get the Duo docked but it still wouldn't power up from the Keyboard power or the power switch on the back. I did a manually eject using the key and the ticking stopped. I then tried reinserting the duo and the dock sucked it in (it didn't do the sucking thing when I initially jammed it into the dock with cover off). I pressed the keyboard power and the lovely bong sounded and the duo booted. Has anyone heard or seen anything like this? I ejected and inserted several times after that, just to see if it was a fluke and the Dock did just what it is supposed to do everytime (sucking in and powering up that is) with no ticking sounds. 3) When I open my LCD screen I noticed that the front and back bezels push away from each other near the hinges. Is this a quick fix or should I track down I friendly neighborhood Mac Tech? If it is a quick fix how do I go about repairing it? Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide me. I tried looking up these issues on the DuoList Archive but, the site kept timing out on me. Sincerely, Jason [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
