you wrote: I have a 2300 duo. A couple months ago, I had some more ram installed. worked fine. It has progressively become troublesome. Currently, by itself: hit the power button- the chime - then...nothing. In the dock: hit the power- soulds like it begins to boot up...no. Nothing shows on the monitor and there's just the dock fan making noise. Resetting the pram does nothing. my response: in most cases, it's a ram chip that has come loose! I know that sounds crazy, but a friend panicked that her beloved 2300 was broken, so I opened it up, and there was the ram chip only HALFWAY attached. if you venture in to fix it yourself, which is NOT that difficult, PLEASE listen UP!!!! you MUST MUST MUST unscrew all the screws underneath the laptop, AND.....once the keyboard is loosened, open up the laptop, tilt the keyboard toward you so that gravity will have it fall into your hand, and IMPORTANT HERE....be SURE to disconnect both ribbon cables OR risk snapping the ribbon cable and having hard luck finding a replacement! otherwise, that is what I would assume is the problem. my 2 cents.
