A few days ago I received a Powerbook Duo 2300. The Powerbook was bought over eBay and is meant as a replacement for my beloved 230, which had OS 7.5.3. The Duo, which I now received, is a Canadian model with MacOS 7.6 in an US-Version. I was used to hook up the Duo 230 to my PowerMac 5500 via AppleTalk. Now I encounter some problems, as both Macs dont communicate with each other. The serial connectors are working well and I do have the correct cable (as its the same as it has been over the years) Moreover, I didnt change anything connected with AppleTalk or Filesharing on the PowerMac 5500 (which has a German MacOS 8.6 installed). So I think the problem is anywhere in the "new" Duo. I have been reading "How to connect two Macs" from David Pogue over and over again, but couldnt find the Problem. Unfortunately I dont have the CD with the system software installer, as it didnt come with the Duo. Can anybody tell me where to download the Software, which may probably be missing? Or is the problem completely different? Is it, e.g. in general possible to connect a German and a US Mac? Any advice is very much appreciated! Moreover, I have some question which are more of a cosmetic nature: The bag, which came with the Duo, is from Dell. Regarding Michaels recent "curses" the bag needs to be replaced immediately or at least rebadged. Any advice which bag to buy? Are there any real slim wallets available, which fit like a second skin? And at last: Did Apple or a third party manufacturer build mice in gray? I only know of black a light beige ones but would also like a gray one, which fits optically to my Duo. Many thanks for your help!
