You can get brand new Farallon 10BT Ethernet cards for something in
the neighbourhood of $40-$50 including shipping if you keep on
looking on ebay long enough. There used to be one for sale on the
2400c page, I don't know if it still is. And I've just bought a 10BT
Ethernet card from MCE for a friend ---it cost him $45 only---. The
brand is Comet, and according to Kevin it works fine on the 2400c. At
this prices I think you shouldn't bother with Linksys.

I seldom use a modem on the road as most places I visit are Ethernet
based and I have an Airport station at home. For the rare occasion I
need to use one, I have a Macsurfer 56k PCMCIA modem I bought from
Developer Depot for around $70. It is certified for Europe, the USA
and Australia, and it works much better if you use FreePPP instead of
Apple's Remote Access. I get very high transmission speeds with
FreePPP and Mac OS 8.6.

If you don't want to spend much, I also have a 56k PCMCIA Viking
modem and a 33.6 PCMCIA US Robotics modem I inherited. Both connect
at very good speeds in the USA, and less so here in Europe. The
Viking modems works best with FreePPP on the 2400c, the Robotics
works well with Remote Access. I wasn't thinking of selling them, but
if you are interested you can contact me off-list and maybe work out
a deal.
