Yes. I use it on my Outbound(pre-Powerbook 030 Mac clone), used to use it on
a Mac Plus. It comes with its own browser(v.1) which does a barely passable
job if you shut off graphics loading. Disadvantages are:
-no Buddylist, though you can do instant messaging without it
-it does, indeed, deny access to much of what AOL offers, though of course
you have e-mail and can do newsgroups(usenet).
Depending on one's RAM, a 030 Duo should be able to run AOL v.3, albeit a bit
slowly(I have it on a IIci with 16mb RAM), which allows most if not all of
AOL's features.

You get a lot of local access numbers around the country, and an 800 number
for 10 cent/min access when no local number available.

Real easy to set up, and you can quit after a month(or change your service
plan to a cheaper one as needed each month), though you lose your favorite
screen name if you quit completely. It's now $23?? for unlimited service
each month 10 percent off if you're an AARP member ;-) minimum plan is
$5.95 for 5 hours per month. I guess you might be able to get a deal for
your first month free(try calling them at 888/265-8002; they may even mail
you a v.2.7 floppy).

I've heard all the arguments against AOL, and I know this sounds like a sales
pitch, but I have been fairly happy with it. Incidentally, if you get a
current AOL member to recommend you for new service(at keyword "friend"), and
install using the password on the CD you subsequently receive(even if you are
installing from a floppy or whatever), your friend makes $50 for the referral
if you stay with full service AOL for 3 months.
