It's much more likely the MB where the ram card sits. The 3400 ram card sits
high and gets "slammed" by hard keystrokes into the socket. You can test the
integrity of the seating by pressing down harder than normal any of the
"Caps lock-a-s-shift-z-x-ctrl-option" keys and see if the screen freezes. I
think the ram module socket on the MB could be a prime suspect.
Alternatively, you can loosen the keyboard and just mildly wriggle the ram
card or press it and see if the screen freezes.
