Harry,

Normally, you'll see:

won't boot at all, will boot unreliably to the gray screen ---
sometimes to the Finder. If it gets to the Finder, then cdev/init
settings are generally lost (control panel/extensions: i.e., network,
chooser, date/time, etc). However, if the pram battery has hosed
your network connections settings, you *might* see a frozen cursor
while the machine tries to figure out its identity.

We sell those batteries for $25. However, because the Duo is often
broken when disassembled, we do not sell the battery separate. We
charge one hour for the replacement. We also do a complete systems
check on your Duo after installation to make sure you don't have
additional problems.

Feel free to contact me off-list if you need more information or an RMA.

Regards,

paul
