I had a 2300 mobo that would type any character in , and never stop. 
It would eventually hit the power key and ask to be shutdown.  Really 
odd.  Nothing I tried could stop it.

If I were you, I would try another keyboard and see if that works.

For me, I just desoldered the keyboard ribbon adapter and so far the 
ghost typing has stopped.
