You're lucky your computer didn't resort to suicide. When I got a 280c, my
old 230 (which I am fixing now) suddenly developed ugly purple botches on the
screen that won't go away. It remained even with the system off. I've
stripped the screen right down to the LCD panel and the purple blotch is still
there.
