Some version of the charger can only charge the Type 1.  A newer version can
do Type 2 and 3 as well although some would require firmware upgrade.  I don't
know if Apple charger can ever charge the Type 4 as it's not Apple branded
battery.  (Apple never made Type 4 or beyond)
