I saw something at an Apple discussion page where somebody with a similar
problem that Tho and I have (no battery reading, and I have a seemingly dead
pram) was able to revive his 1400 with a software solution.

This has influenced me, because I remember that when I first got the 2400 it
came with a fully charged battery, and the troubles didn't start until I
started working with it, installing software.
What I have done is not open the PB but I wiped out the entire hard drive. I
will reinstall software as soon as I download system 7.5 entirely, all 19
disks. It doesn't read cd roms anymore since the drivers are gone.
I'm in the process of dowloading 7.5 right now (8.0 and beyond doesn't seem
to be available). I hope this works to get the batteries going again; or at
least to get a system back inside again!
