Here is recap of the problem (similar to Ilene's): * my pb2400 all of a sudden refused to recognize an inserted battery. *it steadily drain the battery at the same time if the battery if left inserted (I measured the voltage, it dropped down to 8 volts from the supposed 24) *eventually, the PRAM battery also died. After scouring the web, I finally found out that there is a 5 amp fuse near the battery terminal (labelled F2, 5 amps). I tracked this baby down, here is the picture of the opened pb for the location of the fuse http://pages.prodigy.net/blah/_images/openedpb2400.jpg and an image of the fuse http://pages.prodigy.net/blah/_images/fuse.jpg The fuse is open circuited between the ends, suggesting that it's blown. So now, I need to know how to fix it. * I rather not try to desolder the thing. Can I slap a new fuse on top with conducting glue/paste? or should I solder the new fuse atop the old fuse? * Where can get a replacement fuse? Digi-key? Is there any specific thing used to describe this type of fuse? * What would cause a fuse to blow like this? *Alternatively, who can do this repair work, and roughly how much it would cost? ><100$?
