I'm still new to this Wonderful Conversation, so bear with me. (I've
already had some VERY helpful advice about getting open the Duo 210 case,
for which I've now been given 2 different visual resources, and some text
message "hand-holding," which is very encouraging.)
I use my Duo while on the road, and then (until the Dock I inherited gets
fixed) use a serial-cable networked download to my IIsi when I get home.
It's slow and cumbersome, and I'm now looking for an alternative.
Several of you have spoken of hooking up to any SCSI storage device. My
storage of choice is a SyQuest "EZ Drive," 135 megs. (I used to have a
reconditioned Zip 100... until the machine gave the kiss of death to one
disk too many, and I abandonned it.) The cartridges, though small by
contemporary standards, are rugged and have never given me grief.
Now my question: If I start haunting the auctions, what exactly is the
name (and or part or model number) of the mini-dock that I would be
looking for? I think I have a cable that connects two different
configurations of SCSI pins (I don't have them in front of me); one is
small and square, the other long and fat. I assume that the mini-dock I'd
be looking for would have the more miniaturized connector on it. And
would the mini-doc have its own external power supply that I should be
sure to get, or is it powered through that slot with 150 or so pins?
So now what, friends?
Thanks for any help. -DHF
