I think you've answered my question, and I thank you, Marc. (Oh,
Canada... home of Very Friendly People!)

As you said, me "the original poster," ...

I hadn't properly distinguished beetween "mini-", "micro-", and "ultra-"
and now I feel I'm in the right ball-park.

I also dug thru a bunch of cables and such that came with a boxload of
things at a University auction, which included a DOA Dock (probably bad
power supply... but I have a line on another, one of these days... when I
get my daughter to crawl up into their attic, currently too hot!). And in
there, I find I have a little 3-inch gizmo labelled "APS SCSI DOC" with a
male 30-pin square connector on one end, and a female 25-pin on the other.
There's a little slide switch between 2 settings, whose logos are the
tilted-square SCSI sign with a single line into it, and another with a
double set of reverse arrows into the square... and apparently an LED that
tells when one or the other is activated. I then have a rather standard
looking SCSI cable that's male 25-pin on one end, and female 50-pin on the
other, which will get me to the SyQuest.

So now to resume my shopping, with a better sense of what should (and
shouldn't) be on my list.

Thanks again, -DHF
