I have several questions about my Powerbook 2300c w/Duo Dock II. I've normally only used it docked w/power off when not being used. The few times that I have used it on the battery it will only last about 45 minutes. It has been this way since purchased new. Would it be better for the battery to leave it on the charger when not in use? If I fully recharge and leave it stored off the charger for a few days the battery will almost be discharged when I first start it up. Any idea as to why it is draining? I've created a RAM Disk in memory and installed the special System Folder from Disk Tools (System v.8.5DT) to use as a minimum Startup Disk in memory when used as a Laptop. A prompt at Startup tells me that I can't do this but it seems to work. Any reason not to do this? Could my use of "Ram Doubler" be counter-beneficial to my efforts to minimize Hard Drive use? "Battery Recondition" will prompt that it should not be used more than once a month. Why? Will it not help or do harm? I am planning on buying another battery. Is there any superior alternatives to Apple's very expensive exact replacement? Are there less expensive sources for new batteries? Would a battery which has been used or of unknown condition be a dumb thing to buy? Where are some good reliable suppliers? Is there any way of specifying an optimum battery storage capability? Can the old battery be recycled or resold? What is the best way to keep my new battery at optimum battery storage capability? If I buy a new desktop computer to augment my Laptop is the best way to transfer files via Ethernet? Where can I get the required Cross-Over Cable at the best price? Apparently memory beyond 768MB for the new desktop necessitates a 100MHz BUS instead of a 133MHz BUS.
