Hi all,

For any of you who may be suffering iBook envy, you should know that my
brand new iBook caught on fire! I had just successfully transferred all my
files from the 2400 (HUGE thanks to listmembers Mark kippert and Tom Rymes
who walked me through file tranfer in baby steps) when it refused to start
up! When I pressed the start button it sounded like the HD was booting up,
but the screen stayed black. I restarted several times, and eventually a
small fire started behind the screen. Gah! It went out quickly, but
obviously that iBook is a goner.

Apple is sending me another one and "recovering" this one. They swear it
hasn't happened before, and I can't find reference to other instances on
the net, but other iBook models do seem to have had their "incendiary
events." Hope I am doing the right thing...my 2400's motherboard went out
twice, but at least it has never been a fire hazard!

Corina
