This is a great question which I hope others will respond to.

My Duo 2300C specs - 1.1Gb HD - 56 meg RAM (RAM doubler installed) OS 8.1 the
battery life at present is 1.5 hours on a good day

I travel a good bit and also like to work at the mall foodcourt, in front of
the television, or on the patio area outside my home in Florida. I hate being
chained to my study or office.

I use the following software; AppleWorks 6.0.3, office suite - Nisus, for
writing & word processing - Accordance 4.3, Bible study and sermon prep. (I
am a Methodist clergy) - Palm Desktop and HotSync for my Palm IIxe -
Civilization II, Abuse, A-Train, Railroad Tycoon (original version), Pirates
Gold, Sim City 2K - PageMaker 5.0 for bulletins publications etc.- Quicken
98 personal finance - Acrobat 4.0 for PDFs - Melody Assistant for quick
composition and MIDI stuff on the road before loading it on my desktop and of
course StuffIt Expanded 5.0 - I have a little over 400 megs free on my 2300
HD.

Add-ons I use are a 33k external Global Village Teleport Platinum modem
through the printer/modem port on the rear - An external CD-ROM and an Iomega
ZIP through the mini-dock. On the road I take a Citizen Notebook Printer II
(nice and small and cheap on e-bay) used for quick document printing (use the
StyleWriter 1200 driver, works great and normal mac printer cable). However,
Thermo Ribbon for the Citizen are getting harder to find. At home I use
either my StyleWriter 2500C or my Personal LaserWriter 3.

Hope this is of interest -
