If you have one of the new iBooks (Dual USB), I'd recommend you check its Firewire capability. I've had 2 brand new iBooks, and both had faulty Firewire ports. In my case, an external Firewire HD would not appear on the desktop (but would do so on other machines including other iBooks). I imagine there may be new iBook owners that haven't gotten around to getting a Firewire device to test this out. The gory details: Received 1st iBook from Apple Store, no Firewire (June). Sent in for repair, received back, still no Firewire (June). Sent in for second repair, received back, still no Firewire (June). Received brand new replacement iBook, no Firewire (July). That's four strikes, and now I have to send the new one in for repair :( Still using my trusty PB2400 :) ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
