I was fortunate to get a dock that has the lid upgrade. I forgot to mention that. Marlin wrote : >Why not just connect the 280 via AppleTalk (through either Farallon or >Apple's connectors)? The G4 tower has no serial ports. If you are suggesting using a "phonenet" setup with localtalk adaptors, it won't work unless I could hook up the phone cord directly to the G4 and use the serial port of the Duo (with an adaptor). I'd have to go modem-to-modem (with the materials I currently have) if the ethernet doesn't work. I was using a PM 7500 as a bridge between comps, but it's out of the picture now. I will need to test the ethernet card to see if it works. If it needs a driver, I will have some initial problems getting one installed as the Duo is an island unto itself. I guess I have a PC at work connected to the internet that has a floppy drive, though. I could snag drivers that way, if needed. Thanks for the input. I'm just at the stage in life where I'm tired of throwing money at new equipment all the time. I'm just trying to get use out of what I do have without throwing more money into making it work. I'd sure like one of the new iBooks, for instance, but that darn little Duo does everything I need a portable for. rich ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
