Well I did it, and it is up and powering the 2400 right now. I will de-breif in detail when I send the pictures to Marc. A few details now though: By far the most difficult step is getting the case open. The case is held together with a tounge and groove joint. It is either welded with some sort of solvent, or held in with a lock joint. The total thickness of the plastic here is nearing an 1/8" which means a lot of work to cut it with a blade. I started with a drywall knife with a new blade. After a half hour I had an idea of the thickness and I knew I did not have time to complete cutting this way. I used a dremel with a very narrow cutting blade. I'm not going to reccommend this because it removes material leaving a gap when you get it all back together, but it is damn fast. This means the great glueing scheme (the black pvc pipe glue) we learned about this week won't work for me - I'm going to have to do something else. I think I'm going to mask it and bridge the gap with epoxy, but its electrical tape for now till I know its ok. I could not pull the wire through the strain relief without cutting the wire. It is adhered to the jacket too strong to pull it loose. After cleaning out the strain releif the wire passed with a little effort. I used a knot, and left plenty of slack for making my splices, and although its tight I managed to stuff quite a bit of wire back in there. There is a bit of a hollow right inside of the strain relief that you can push this stuff into. Thats it for now - no breakthroughs, but at least we have some pictures of what you will find inside.
