It's fairly simple, if a pain, to replace. You just have to remove the four
screws on the bottom, remove the keyboard carefully and unhook its ribbon
cables. Then, make very sure you disconnect the trackpad connector at this
point, or else you're likely to rip it in the next step.
>From there, you'll need to pull the top case away from the bottom. It should
come without too much force, though you may need to push on the lower edge
where the HD is (front right). Once that comes off, you'll see the PRAM
battery there and then just reverse the steps to get it back together.
As for obtaining a PRAM battery, you may have to go through a third-party
providor or eBay, if your Mac service center won't sell one. I'm not sure if
that alone is the problem though, I've run a Duo 230 without a PRAM battery
for over a year now (don't care about date and time on it, and it only has a
couple monitor settings...) without a problem. Still, it's worth a try. You
can try hooking up the new PRAM battery without completely disassembling it
by hanging it out of the keyboard hole, just to see if it boots.
