I recall reading on this list (some time ago) of one member who had swapped out the oscillator in his duo for a faster one. Seems like it was Mad Dog but I'm not sure. Anyway, I found a website that says you can speed up the duo 280 from 33 MHz to 43 MHz successfully. I wonder if anyone has done this and could report experiences. Also, I think it was System 7.x that would allow you operate at half-speed for battery savings (not to be confused with processor cycling). I have changed out the 40 MHz crystal for a 50 MHz crystal in my PB-3400c increasing it from a 240 MHz machine to 300 MHz and there are no noticeable ill affects.
