My suggestion, considering your travel desires, is to download linuxPPC, Yellowdog, SUSE, or another distro and fire it up on the 2400. PLay with it and learn what you can. It should pose that much of a problem. I think that booting is kinda wacky. The default loader is YABoot, which might not work 100% on a 2400, but if that's a problem, use BootX. Give it a whirl.
