OK, A few days ago I mentioned my experiments in replacing the apple heat sink pad (goes between the CPU and the heatsink) with what I judged to be a superior heat pad I bought from digikey. During those experiments I showed that the heatsink got hotter (~5C) when using the new heat pad, as compared to the apple heat pad. I judged this to show that the new heat pad was superior in transmitting heat from the CPU to the heatsink. Now, I have done some more tests. Putting the thermocouple between the CPU and the heat pad, I ran 2 iterations of the same experiments I did previously (run Battery Amnesia for 1/2 hour sharp after a cold boot where the CPU was at ambient temps). During the tests with the apple heat pad, the CPU temp averaged 72.4 C. During the tests with the new heat pad, the CPU temp averaged 69.6 C.
