IIRC, the port handles 230kbps, so even if you manage to get the full 56kbps (which virtually never happens -- usually the best is about 38 or so), there's no problem. The rule of thumb is that the compression averages around a factor of 2-4x, so the full 56kbps x 4 approximately equals 230kbps. Hence, the conclusion that you won't have a problem (hardware-wise) with using a 56k modem. So, bottom line, unless you've got regular access to high-bandwidth at home and on the road, the 56k modem is the best you're going to be able to do, and your Duo should take full advantage of it, so there's no need to settle for a lesser solution. - Eric. ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
