Hello my wise friends. I just received a PlexWriter external CD-R model PX-R24CSe. I hooked it up to my DUO via the mini-dock checked the extension for Apple CD-ROM and booted up the DUO. I did not get a mounted drive on the desktop. This particular drive has the SCSI probe software on it so I ran it and listed as present was "ROM PX-R24CS version 1.60 SCSI 5". It's the only SCSI device I am trying to load other than the internal hard drive. There is no address conflict and the SCSI is properly terminated.
Beyond the above info I know next to zip about Macintosh CD-ROM or CD-R. I know with my old external Macromedia RENO external drive it needs a special extension. The Plextor manual that I received with the drive has Windows SCSI users in mind and has a great amount of setup and trouble shooting for Windows users but offers very little for the Mac user other than to state that the drive will work easily with any Macintosh. Does anyone have a clue as to where I am ignorant here? I'd just like it to mount a CD on the desktop and then I'll worry about burning CD-R's :) Thanks in advance Joe Fisher Tallahassee, Florida ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
