Sorry John, your soldering capability won't help until you diagnose the problem. It could be on one or more of several boards (main logic, CPU, I/O-Power), and the only practical way to diagnose it is to swap boards on the bench with known good boards. As Tom said, you need a "parts" machine. That is, until you go out and buy a spare 2400, you need to send your glod/clods to someone who has a spare, like DT&T.
