Well folks, the school decided to have me sell off the Duos and such to
raise some money for them, so I want to offer them here first in case any of
you are wanting any of it :)
In order we have the model, memory, HD, and system software installed, plus
status of the system install and other things. They all have 14.4 Apple
Express modems.
1. Duo 280(non-c) / 32 megs / 240 megs / 7.5.5 clean install (still has the
"PPC Update Ready" sticker on it)
2.Duo 250 / 32 megs / 200 megs / 7.5.1 extras
3. Duo 250 / 12 megs / 200 megs / 7.1 extras
4. Duo 280c / 12 megs / 320 megs / 7.5.1 active stuff cracked screen
5. Duo 280c / 32 megs / 320 megs / 7.5.1 active stuff
In addition, they threw in a PowerMac 6412CD with 32 megs RAM and a 1 gig
drive. It also has one the Apple 15" multisyncs that tends to lose the red
gun, which this one has. I'm investigating whether it will be any real use
for me to buy myself, but I'd rather it go to someone with kids or
something that would put it
to good use. I'd probably just stick it in the corner and play with it now
and then. The lot came with a dozen or so type 2 and 3 batteries scattered
about, most in cases. The extras involved are mainly minor things like virus
scanners and
the like, nothing major. I can format the drives, leave them alone, or
install 7.1 or 7.5.5 if any of you would prefer it. A couple of them seem to
have one or two dead pixels, but they're not in places that seemed to affect
anything. I can get details on them if anyone asks. In addition, there are a
couple or three odd floppy drives, no adapters. One has the front flippy
door broken off but it still works fine (I kinda like it without the door,
makes it less cumbersome). Note that none of these duos come with AC
adapters, and I'm still working out which batteries don't just cause the
things to shut off and if any of them still hold a charge.
For oddball stuff, I also have a BTI "Powercharger" for the PB 100
series (140, 145, 160, 170, and 180 it says on the label), as well as an AC
adapter that seems to fit it. There are also a couple adapters for some old
Zenith laptops (near as I can tell), I'll probably just eBay those (if not
just junk them, not sure they're worth anything at all).
Anyway, if anyone wants any of this stuff, let me know. I would be quite
happy parting out the machines, so don't hesistate to ask about it. They
range from good to excellent cosmetically, #4 has a cracked screen but
otherwise works just fine. There's also another one identical to #5 except
it has a 1 gig SCSI drive. It's also pretty poor cosmetically, and I plan on
swapping out the drive with a 520c I picked up once I get a power adapter
for it, after that I might well put it up but I've been wanting a 280c again
after I upgraded mine to a 2300c and it wasn't the same.
Anyway, thanks for your time :) I'll give this until, say, a week from today
(11/10/2001) before I start looking towards eBay and/or the LEM swaplist. As
a Mac geek, it's hard
not to just want to keep all this to play with, but I can't really justify
buying it all myself :)
