I realize this is off-topic from the Duo (on which I depend heavily on the
cumulative wisdom of these list-users.) But the discussion of appropriate
OS's for 2400s reminds me of a question looming over my head for some
time, on which I'd welcome off-list advice (unless people think it would
be useful to others to see.)
I have, among other things, an iMac (350 Indigo) from last Christmas.
Increasingly, I've had freeze-ups, and am getting tired of rebooting.
Watching the help discussions on Apple's tech-info pages doesn't yet seem
to answer my questions.
This machine has 9.0.4 installed. But I downloaded a free upgrade to 9.1
(set the machine to run overnight, basically, for a file of some 70 megs,
on the 56K internal modem). Before going ahead with running the
installer, I thought I'd ask first whether others have had a successful
experience of running this particular upgrade. Doing a re-install of the
present system, from the distribution CDs, hasn't seemed to clean up
whatever is bugging the machine (although occasional pref-trashing and
PRAM purging and desktop rebuild usually help some.) Is there anything I
would lose by going with the upgrade?
Thanks for whatever insight you may be inclined to share with me.
Sincerely, -DHF
