Easy? No, cheap... YES.

You can take e.g. Atmel AT90-series microcontroller that is ISP
programmable, so you can leave out that expensive programmer. Also you can
use ponyprog or other similiar very cheap programmer to program other (like
PIC-series) microcontrollers.

Actually, it's bit more complex thing. ADB device number negotiations etc.

Actually protocol is explained somewhere, but timings are only (?) in some
big big book.

Second thing is that ADB is patented/trademarked/copyrighted and not sure is
it legal to build such a adapter (at least to publish it...)

I personally have tought this because I rather would like to use my old
repaired AT-keyboards and mices with my powerbook.

If needed I can provide information I found about timings and protocol of
ADB if someone want's to build such a little circuit.
(Timing information that I found was in German, protocol can be found from
some Apple document)
