Hi Duo troopers (:+)

Just as a matter of information. Based on reports read on Cnet, ZDNet, and
various Mac-specific web sites I believe that Steve Jobs will probably
announce a "LCD iMac" at MacworldSF. Depending on the configuration and set
up (which I suspect will be substantial, as Apple desperately NEEDS a winner
to replace the ageing iMac line) that such an announcement will push a lot
of folks to eventually place the venerable Duo and older Powerbooks on eBay
(or other auction sites) in an effort to get some dollar value out of these
fine machines. As a result prices for the 2300, 2400 and (obviously) the
280C line will probably drop further.

An LCD iMac would be lighter than its CRT predesessor and probably be a bit
more robust in the CPU/RAM/Hard Drive configuration as well. Due to the
fact that most people use Powerbooks ( & Duos) as either additions to or
replacements for the larger "Tower-Macs" I can't help but feel that the
launch of an easily "luggable," yet powerful Mac might drive the popularity
of the Duos even further off the radar screen. But, this is all
speculation. If Apple launches some sort of too-expensive LCD "goof" (read
"Cube.") then all bets are off. I hope that I'm wrong... But time &
technology marches on. Ain't it fun<grin>
