This noisy audio problem (both the ins and the outs) was inherent on my
stock 180 603e and w/G3 upgrade. When I discovered this after buying the
machine brand new in '98 my hopes of using it for serious digital audio
recording were dashed (unless I purchased a third party solution, like the
$600 Digigram PCMCIA audio card).
