I've booted my G4 Cube a few time from it while I was re-partitioning for OSX. But, because the 2400 doesn't have a native FireWire bus the Open Firmware identifies as a possible bus to boot from, a 2400 can not be booted from an iPod.
However, I will probably be changing my emergency flash card boot "disk" to have FireWire drivers so I can put things onto my iPod after a crash, or run utilities from it. After more experimenting, it seems like the iPod works the best under 8.6 FireWire drivers from that version of the system. This could just be my FireWire card, or something else in the system. >Rumor has it that if one places a System Folder on an iPod, one can boot >from it...
