My 2400c/G3 240/112MB with 6.4GB HD (IBM Travelstar) is continuously accessing the disk (ie clicking and whirring) every few seconds too. Even when I'm not doing anything on it. I found a desktop rebuild and PRAM reset, etc fixed it for a while, then it came back. I'm thinking maybe a re-install of the system (9.1) might fix it.
