Thank you for the reply post Andy.

The photo breaks up in the middle of the screen - roughly an area that looks
like a shadow of two overlapping windows. I assumed the computer might need
some sort of a screen-saver to fix the problem. It doesn't happen everytime
the 2400c starts up. I opened the Photo folder where I'd placed the image
and clicked 'get info' from the File menu. It read:

kind: picture clipping
size: 66k
