Well, then, don't bother saving for a new iBook unless you are unhappy with your older iBook. Well, a few points on this one. 1.) <anal retentive>You don't technically "Run the Internet." I know it's a semantics issue, but you connect to the internet and then browse the web, send/receive e-mail, and any other number of other things. Not a big deal, but it's technically correct.</anal retentive> 2.) For word processing, the 2400 is a great little machine and doesn't require a G3 upgrade, or a lot of investment. I would recommend that you run MacOS 8.6 or 8.1 (preferably 8.6, assuming you have more than 40MB RAM) and Microsoft Office 98. (2001 if you have it.) Of course, you could also run an older version of Word, or NisusWriter, Nisus Compact, or whichever program you prefer. 3.) For connecting to the internet, I would cruise eBay for a 16-bit PCMCIA card modem (Make sure it isn't CardBus). The Global Village Platinum Pro Combo card (Modem and Ethernet) works well for me. You can use the built-in Remote Access program to connect. Internet Explorer 5.1 runs quite well on the 2400. 4.) The serial printer that you own will work fine with the 2400. 5.) For external storage, your best bet is external SCSI devices, like your CD Burner. you will need an HDI-30 adapter, and Toast or similar software.
