The subject of "heat sinking" (modifications) of the 2400 has been done and
discussed by several listers over the years, using aluminum block, foil,
thermal grease etc.--and is highly recommended. Bridging the gap between the
CPU and the base pad will lower the temperature nominally by 3-5 C and up to
6-7 C under intensive CPU use. IMO the stock 603e runs hotter than the G3
upgrades (hence more likely to fail).  Check the archives.
