>My uses for the 2400's PCMCIA slots: >Someone mentioned Compact flash cards (I can download my Nikon CoolPix files >to my 2400 in seconds). If you had an iceBook you could download that Coolpix via the USB. Quite fast. High quality audio? Better than that line out jacks already present on the iBook? <<<Off topic: If anybody thinks you can use the Apple A/V cable to get line out while feeding VGA to a video projector, forget it. When you plug in that cable it disables the VGA port. You need a mini-plug to RCA adapter from Radio Shack to get the job done. I figured this out during a presentation. Argh!>>> > >Oh, yeah, I do have a USB card... and a 56K modem... and 100baseT >ethernet...So none of these things in a iBook would get my anything new. Must be fun swapping all those devices. > >About the ONLY thing I don't have on my 2400 is OS X. >And THAT, my friends, will be the straw that eventually breaks this lovely >compact camel's back. Because we use OS X on my main computer and my wife's, >and we love it. >Give me an iBook with PCMCIA and I'm there. And how about batteries? (RDX might take care of that.) And the memory? (I added an extra 256M to my iceBook for $21 at the peak of the RAM glut. No jumper wires required. And my 100baseT works without a cardbus mod. And that DVD-CD-RW drive. But I still won't sell my 2400. It likes its home on my desk at work. Now when I get a chance I gotta fix that clicker... Mike ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
