Carol, how about giving us a bit more info and describe the type of 'freeze' you're getting.
Amount of RAM installed? Which application are you usually in when you get the freeze? Can you repeat the freeze or is it somewhat random? Does it just lock up or do you get an error message? Spinning disk or a pure 'freeze' of the cursor, etc.? Do you have other apps open? MS Internet Explorer tends to choke on me after I've been surfing with multiple windows for a long time...and I've got 112MB RAM.
