forget about it, apple will NOT listen, they killed the 2400 and didn't develope another sub notebook. if they put a 1.2ghz cpu, ddrram, gf4 or ati 8500 in the new imac i will buy 2 for sure. apple doesn't care what you want, they care about their 30% profit.

It appears on the surface that most would abandon their 2400's if they were able to obtain the small iBook with a PCMCIA card slot. I for one would buy two of them for my household. Utilizing Mobility Electronics epansion dock it would provide me a full blown desktop for my purposes. Mobilities dock connects to the pc card slot and they call it split bridge technology. Perhaps one of the best ways to get Apple to listen would be to present them with a petition procured through the net of those who want such a configuration for their laptop (sub notebook). Web wide should produce a significant number of people demanding such a product. Numbers make them listen. Unfortunately I think currently the attitude of Apple is somewhat like the government, "we know what is best for you" instead of what do you want us to produce. Unless they are hammered with something such as a petition they are not likely to pay much attention to individual letters. Food for thought.
